Irecently visited the famous restaurant Ulus 29 a Turkish friend had recommended. What an experience that was! Reserving a table ahead of time is a must. We took a taxi since it is difficult to reach the restaurant using public transportation. Taxis are definitely fast and inexpensive in Istanbul.
We were greeted by a host who took us to a table by the window with stunning views of the Bosphorus and the beautifully lit city. We started the evening with a wine from their award-winning wine list, then picked some delicious dishes from the menu which mostly focuses on Turkish cuisine but also includes international dishes such as pizza and sushi.
Usually, my girlfriend and I can talk non-stop for an hour, but now we were silent realizing that this was a pure moment of happiness. Good food, good company, perfect service, great views and beautiful people. We were amazed by the chic Turkish women; they certainly knew how to dress up elegantly for a night like this.
The waiter pointed us to the terrace where we could take beautiful pictures of Istanbul by night. He didn’t need to tell us twice! After our photo shoot we moved over to a separate room in the restaurant where we enjoyed a cocktail to conclude the evening. We evaluated the evening in a specially decorated glass cube, which of course had a 360 degree view of the city. There was an older and wealthy looking couple of around 70 sitting next to us enjoying a cheese plate, exquisite wine and having a fun conversation. “We will still do this when we are old” I said to my girlfriend. “Sure we will” she said, “this is enjoying life.”
