Bağdat Caddesi, located on the Asian side of Istanbul, is an outdoor shopping mall of up to 14 kilometers long where you can shop for hours! On either side of the street, there are upscale shops and restaurants. Well-known Istanbulites parade on its wide pavements, but of course after first going to the hairdresser and the makeup artist. It is a nice spectacle to watch while sipping a cup of Turkish coffee at one of the well-known chains like Starbucks, Gloria Jeans Coffee or Cafe Crown, found on every street corner of Bağdat Caddesi.
My favorite, Kahve Dünyasi!
Lesser-known than the Dutch coffee giants, Kahve Dünyası (Coffee World) is my favorite coffee shop where you must have the chocolate fondue. Dip the beautifully presented pieces of fruit in the warm chocolate sauce and make sure you also try their salep, a traditional Turkish drink with hot milk and lots of cinnamon.
The boulevard is a 10 minute-walk from shopping street Bağdat Caddesi. (I don’t understand this sentence, what it 10 minutes away from Bagdat Caddesi?) Have a cocktail at Palma d’Oro or “golden palm”. A restaurant with a beautifully lit garden in the evening and fantastic service, where I felt like I was in a movie set.
